Hip Hop Culture
offers a benefit of using a vehicle to motivate and stimulate students which is relevant to their every day lives. Teachers must take an active role in learning about their students backgrounds and lives.
Students must be given critical perspectives concerning messages received and processed.
This perspective will enable students to distinguish what aspects of incoming messages should or should not be valued; a capacity which is crucial to fruitful negotiation on everything - from viewing magazine advertisement to reading news stories to listening to hip hop music.
